2022 Membership is now open!

The EMCC executive is pleased to announce that membership for 2022 is now open at:

Karelo.com – Organization Details – Edmonton Masters Cycling Club

Special note: If you signed up in 2020 you will receive a one time promo code email so you can sign up at no cost  – Don’t sign up until you receive the email – the codes will be emailed in the coming week.

We are excited to finally resume our mid-week events of time trials, criteriums, road races and Sunday morning group rides. Below are some important changes that we feel will bring greater participation and value to the membership:

After consulting other clubs we are changing the mid-week event to Tuesday. This will allow our local athletes an easy day before competing again at the Thursday night track league or an interval session before a weekend race.

Under 30 Time trial series. You just need to turn 25 years of age in 2022 to be eligible. Please note the executive is considering including this age group for the crits and RR’s if there is significant interest. If you turn 30 in 2022 you are eligible for all events!

Sunday group ride. Kevin Rokosh, coach of Velocity Cycling Club will lead our first group ride on May 8 (tentative) and again on the 22nd to ensure a smooth return to riding the Strathcona County roads we all enjoy. Kevin will also be developing an online pre-ride registration and course maps. Kevin may lead further rides depending on how many members sign up this year.

Penticton Training camp April 24 to 30. This is an informal week of cycling with the Velocity Cycling Club at Tiki Shores in Penticton. Members attending must be self-sufficient as this is not a supported event. At this time there are around 10 members from Velocity going with their President Ed Heacock acting as a ride leader for both Velocity and EMCC. The mild Penticton weather, smooth roads, and long climbs are a great way to start the season. Contact Tiki shores directly at 866-492-8769 for room rates and availability.

Executive positions needed: Treasurer, Events Director, and Vice President. After many, MANY years of service John and Jim are stepping aside from the Treasurer and VP roles. These positions are essential to the operation of the club and our mid-week events. Please note they are not difficult and you will benefit from the additional camaraderie we all enjoy from club activities.

Here is the 2022 event calendar (subject to change). In the coming weeks we will post the volunteer sign up where you can pick your spots on a first come basis. Watch your email for more exciting updates coming in April.

Thank you for your past support of EMCC, we hope to see you in 2022!
